The awards ceremony is over, and students and advisors are on their way back home.  We don’t have names and schools information yet, but  we saw Region 16 schools on stage  quite often.

It’s National Business Professionals of America Week

Business Professionals of America Week is each year during the second full week of February, part of Career and Technical Education Month. This year, Business Professionals of America Week is February 14-18, 2011.

The mission of Business Professionals of America is to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills, which is reflected in the BPA pledge,  revised by the Board of Trustees at its 2010 summer meeting.

We are met in a spirit of friendship and goodwill as we prepare for productive careers in a world-class workforce. We work together to develop professionalism and leadership through Business Professionals of America and pledge our loyalty to our nation.

Tri Star BPA team wins regional Ohio Stock Market Challenge

Tri Star's BPA team finished 5th overall out of 713 teams in Ohio's Stock Market Challenge

Wright State’s Center for Economic Education  (CEE)  in Dayton, Ohio, recently hosted a luncheon for the area winners of the Ohio Stock Market Challenge.   In the high school division, the Tri Star Business Professionals of America  team of Brady Bertke (Celina), Kial Burrows (St. Henry) , Ayran Burrows (Fort Recovery), and Jordan Nagel (St. Marys) finished  in first place by increasing their portfolio value from $100,000 to  $130,132.  For their first place finish, D.L Fannin, Director of the Wright State CEE presented the team with certificates and a $100 team prize.   The team also finished FIFTH in the state, competing against 713 other teams.

As guests of Wright State, the students were also given a tour of Wright State’s  “Wall Street”  style trading center,  which was recognized by Business Week online as one of the Top Ten academic trading rooms in the nation.  In the trading room, Dr. Marlena Akhbari, Chairman of the Finance Department, provided the students with a presentation about the importance of diversification.   She also reminded students that education beyond high school is one of the most valuable investments they can make.
